Under new legislation ( although the average deaths UK per annum from airguns is 0.5) all airguns must now be purchased face to face, so that legislation may be explained and details of purchaser and their I.D. and address may be recorded.
It is interesting how politicians love to create instability by responding forcibly to the apparent threat of gun crime, whilst actually doing very little to stop illegal firearms from entering the country as soldier booty or other illegal importation past disinterested members of the customs at shipping ports - note the complete boredom of these staff at Harwich for example, whilst the immigration people will stare at you from every angle to ensure you are the person on the passport photo.
Open a local newspaper meanwhile and note each weekend contains stories of one to three young people from the ages 18-25 from motor vehicle accidents. These are apparently normal deaths, whilst the 19 and counting firearm deaths from illegal weapons - which may no longer come from the gun trade, are now worth reporting but no one enquirers as to where the illegal firearm came from.
